The purpose of the Roseau County SWCD is to assist landusers in applying proper conservation practices to soil and water resources. Our SWCD is a unit of local government established in 1956 under state law to carry out conservation programs at the local level. The District works with local landowners to help them manage and protect land and water resources on all private lands.
Truax Grass Drill Rental
This is not a no-till drill.
Stop into our office to sign a rental agreement for your grass drilling needs. The District has an 8 foot grass drill for rent. Rental charges within Roseau County include: $15/acre and a minimum $75 non-refundable drop charge. Out-of-County charges are $5/mile from county line, $15/ac use, and a $75 non-refundable drop charge. The District will deliver the drill to your location and pick it up after you are done seeding.
RMB Courier Service for well water testing
1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month, with the exception of Holidays. Pick up and drop off well water kits at our office. Kits must be brought to our office by noon of pickup day.
October 1 Well Water Clinic
The Roseau County SWCD offering a well water clinic on the morning of October 1 for total coliform bacteria, E.coli, and nitrate analysis. The price is $10 for Roseau County residents and $25 for non-residents. The Minnesota Department of Health recommends that private wells be tested every year for coliform bacteria and every other year for nitrate. The analyses will be provided by AC Water Analysis of Bemidji, a state certified laboratory.
To participate in the testing, homeowners need to pick up a well water test kit with instructions from the Roseau SWCD office during regular business hours, now through the morning of October 1. Water samples will NOT be accepted in other containers such as jars, resealable plastic bags, plastic containers, etc. The Roseau County SWCD office is located at 502 7th Street SW, Ste 5 in Roseau.
Foster care or daycare providers should not use this clinic for certification as results will not be in a format that is acceptable to the state. Questions? Call 218-463-1903.
